Where is God in Mental Health?

A Biblical perspective on mental health issues

VENUE: Neringah Hospital, 4-12 Neringah Avenue South, Wahroonga.
Parking and wheelchair access available.   Morning Tea provided.
RSVP required. Email OR phone 0412 862 766

SPEAKER: Dr Tyler Schofield will address how we juggle our faith (and others’) in the storms of mental health crises, including how we can apply faith to help those struggling with complex mental health issues, such as addiction, personality difficulties, bipolar I and II,  schizophrenia, trauma and PTSD . He will also offer perspectives on how we can think as Christians about the nature of psychiatric labels / diagnoses / treatment.

Tyler is a Christian who seeks to constantly  incorporate his faith into his work as a family GP.  For the past 10 years he has been working 2 days a week in an adolescent mental health clinic.  He is most fulfilled at work when he can explicitly demonstrate the functional application of the gospel to his patients.  He especially desires to offer Jesus inspired, gospel-fuelled, whole-hearted care of complex patients (such as those with  psychosomatic illness, trauma, personality struggles, failing marriages, family dysfunction and many others).

He is most fulfilled at work when he can explicitly demonstrate the functional application of the gospel to his patients; evangelistically, encouraging patients to cry out God’s help in suffering and promoting the Spirit’s work of sanctification.

Tyler is married to a wonderful, supportive, godly wife, Andrea; and she is nurturing their daughter who is due anytime in August or September!

He loves the ocean and can be found kitesurfing, spearfishing or carving waves on a board when time allows it.
